Resource developed by the CoE-PHI to assist health care providers with ensuring patient privacy when providing telehealth services in response to the Covid-19 pandemic and beyond, including information on telehealth apps, executing consent forms and disclosing health information when a medical emergency exists.
- Providers should try to avoid public wi-fi, password protect their devices, and keep any confidential files secure.
- In-person consent for sharing protected health information is not needed.
- Providers can make their own determinations regarding whether a “medical emergency” exists.
